Getting creative!
What do you do when you live in Japan and get a hankerin' for an ice cream cone after 9pm??? The commisary on base is closed, all the local sweet shops are closed, and Seiyu (the neighborhood grocery store) doesn't sell them...
Well, Josh was so hungry for a cone that we decided to find a recipe online and attempt to make them ourselves! We have a tried and true crepe recipe, so we thought we might be able to adapt those skills to the cone and it ended up turning out pretty well. As with our crepe making experience, the first few cones were a disaster (mine looked like a soupy frisbee and Josh's looked like a disk of charcoal!)...but once we got the hang of it, they really did look and taste quite good! In fact, if you come over to our house for dinner sometime, you just might have one for dessert! (oh yeah, and we found a recipe for make at home "magic shell" too - yum!)
